The Senior Choir at Beckenham has been preparing for the South Christchurch Music Festival next month. The group was invited and took the opportunity to perform at a local retirement home. The staff at Beckenham Courts Retirement Village planned a Mother’s Day event for the female residents including this group of singers.
The children did a very good job of singing for the women. The choir director had picked some songs that he thought the ladies would know so that they could sing along, and I heard many of them doing just that. Afterwards the choir was treated to some lemonade and a piece of candy. They also went around and talked with the residents while enjoying their treat. Margaret has gone with my mom to the convalescent home she visits each week in Redlands, which I think made her especially good at talking to the older ladies. Both age groups seemed to enjoy the visit a great deal. [Mark was most intrigued by the sparkling wine that was being served to most of the residents.]

What a great experience! At SHA, each class visits a convalescent home in Redlands. The residents truly do enjoy the music the kids bring. It's great to see schools around the world do the same thing!! :)
