These pictures show our view across the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps with a large layer of fog sitting over the plains. The weather reports I read said that this was caused by a layer of stationary warm air sitting over the area keeping the cool air in. In the days before this picture was taken we had fog at our house too. It’s bone chilling and makes us glad for our heaters (all the different types).

Fog over the Plains
Living in Southern California, we really don’t experience much “weather”, or at least not much variation in the weather. We’re blessed with mild temperatures and sunny skies almost year round. Sometimes though it can get a bit boring. You can almost hear people saying with resignation “another sunny day.” That’s part of what’s made the observing the weather here so much fun. We also are fortunate to have rented a house with an outstanding view. So, I hope you’ll bear with me while I do yet another blog about the weather we’ve seen from our breakfast room window.
